The Greek islands are one of my all time favorite destination! Besides Santorini, and Mykonos (where we went on our honeymoon), there are so many other islands like Corfu, and Paxos, that are also beautiful and much more affordable. In fact Santorini and Mykonos are not known for the best sandy beaches (very rocky/volcanic like). Corfu is one of the greenest islands in Greece. The island is known for having over 2 million olive trees, which makes for a lush environment and yummy olives/olive oil.
The island is also defined by rugged mountains and resort studded shorelines. It's a unique island since it's heritage and culture reflects years spent under Venetian, French and British rule before it was united with Greece in 1864. You will find different parts of Corfu that represents Venetian style, winding medieval lanes, French-style arcade and the grand Palace of St. Michael and St. George.
Our stay was at the beautiful Rodostamo, which is a fairly new hotel and over looks the Ionian Sea. The service, spa, and pool area are great!
Some great spots on the island of Corfu to check out:
After just a couple of days at beautiful Corfu, we set sail to our next destination, which was this beautiful little Island called Paxos! We stayed at this newly built airbnb called Opera House was absolutely stunning! Frazer and Giorgio are the owners and they are the most gracious hosts that you will ever meet! It's not directly on the water, but is a short ride to the shores.

Paxos (or Paxi) is one of the least commercial Greek Islands in the Ionian sea. It is such a beautiful island, with welcoming locals. You will run into many visitors that have been coming back for years for the island beauty and charm. It's a very walkable island, measuring only 7 miles by 3, and can easily be explored by foot, bike, car or boat. A perfect place to go and unwind. Average days can be a walk to the beach, drinking a frappe (iced coffee) in one of the seafront cafes, watch local fishermen bringing in their catch of the day, the sent of fresh baked bread baking at a local wood ovens, while listening to tourists and locals converse about their day. Just about every where you go, you can be guaranteed to have fresh seafood, bread, and a warm smile. Our days consisted of eating, sunbathing, and relaxing!
The beaches of Paxos are mostly rocky without many beaches , but has some pretty cool caves, especially the blue caves of Paxos ( easiest way to see them is to book for a boat trip from Gaios port).
Any beach going should be done at Antipaxos, which is the smallest island in Greece and only 3 kilometers/1.86 miles south of Paxos. Rated one of the top 20 beaches in the world, it is a must and easily accessible with a quick boat ride.
You will not be disappointed with any of these charming islands. There is lot's to do for everyone, and all very kid friendly. Can't wait to go back!
